Turn reviews and UGC into content and ads
Customer words and photos convert better than brand copy and cost almost nothing. Most stores just never collect them.
AI can cluster your real reviews into ad angles and product-page proof, but it must never invent a quote, so you feed it only genuine reviews. A review app plus a rights opt-in handles the collecting and the legal part AI can't.
Fastest path: one prompt, end to end
🤖 AI prompt — paste into ChatGPT / Claude
You are a UGC strategist for a DTC brand.
Paste 10 REAL customer reviews, verbatim:
[paste 10]
Using ONLY the pasted reviews, invent nothing:
1. Pick the 5 with the strongest hook potential and say why (specific benefit, emotional line, or objection crushed).
2. For each, draft an ad headline built from the customer's OWN words (quote or lightly tighten, never fabricate).
3. Group all 10 into 2-3 recurring themes I can use as product-page proof blocks.
4. Flag any review that names a competitor or makes a claim I can't substantiate; don't use those in ads.
Output: a top-5 table (review excerpt | why | ad headline), then the themes.
Do not guess or invent any quote, number, or benefit. Every headline must trace to a pasted review; if a review is ambiguous, flag it and ask me, don't fill the gap. If a review is too thin to use, leave it out and tell me. Never invent a quote.
Or do it in 4 steps
- Run a post-purchase review flow with a photo incentive. Trigger an email or SMS roughly 7 to 14 days after delivery asking for a review, and offer a small incentive for adding a photo. Photo reviews are the raw material for everything downstream, so make the photo the thing you reward.
- Request usage rights with a template. Add one line to the review form: "Tick here if we may feature your review and photo in our marketing." For a standout post, DM the customer to ask if you can feature it on your site and in ads, with credit. Get that yes in writing first.
- Turn top reviews into ad creative. The exact phrases customers use are your best headlines; they have pre-tested the language for you. Paste your real reviews into the prompt above, pick the strongest, and build headlines from genuine quotes only.
- Put UGC into product-page blocks. Photo reviews and quote blocks near the buy button are high-converting social proof, and this is often the highest-ROI use of UGC you have.
Done looks like: a running, rights-cleared library of photos and quotes, 3 to 5 live ad headlines pulled from real reviews, and proof blocks on every top product page.
Worked example (labeled): a review saying "I stopped buying the expensive brand after trying this" becomes the ad headline in the customer's own words, far more credible than "Premium quality, better price." Pull the headline from the review; never write the review to fit the headline.
Refresh your UGC library monthly; retire angles as they fatigue in ads.
