Ride trends without looking desperate
A well-timed trend can hand a small brand a huge audience. A late or forced one looks try-hard. The skill is speed plus a hard fit filter.
AI can judge brand fit and draft takes, but it must browse to confirm the trend is current: its training data will not know what is trending today, and a stale trend is worse than none.
Fastest path: one prompt, end to end

You are a social trends strategist WITH web access.
Brand: [one line + brand voice in 3 words]
What I sell: [product]
Trend I'm considering: [name / link / describe the sound or format]
Do this:
1. Browse to confirm this trend is CURRENTLY active: check the platform's trending tab, the sound's usage count, and recent post dates (last 3-5 days). If it is already fading or you cannot verify it is live, tell me not to jump. Do not pretend.
2. Score brand fit 0-5: does this connect naturally to what I sell, or would it feel forced?
3. If fit >=3 and it is live, draft 3 on-brand takes I could film today (hook + concept each).
4. Any example post you cite as proof the trend works must have 10,000+ views. Verify the count and put it next to the link, or drop the example.
Do not guess or estimate any number. Every figure (view counts, sound-usage counts) must come from a page you opened; give the source next to it. If you cannot browse, say so, leave the "live?" answer blank, and tell me to check the trending tab myself.
Output: live? (y/n) + fit score + 3 takes (only if it passes).
Or do it in 4 steps
- Scan 15 minutes daily. Check the platform's trending tab, trending sounds, and what creators in your niche are posting. Trends are a use-it-or-lose-it window, so the awareness has to be daily, not weekly.
- Filter hard for brand fit. Most trends are not for you. Only jump if it connects naturally to your product or voice. A forced tie-in reads as desperate and can hurt more than skipping.
- Move in 24-48 hours. A trend at its peak is gold. The same trend a week late is cringe. If you cannot execute inside the window, skip it, there is always another.
- Add a genuine angle. Do not just copy the format. Connect it to your product or point of view so it is shareable and unmistakably yours. Done looks like a post that would still make sense to your existing followers even if the trend passed them by.
Worked example (labeled): a trending audio fits if your product's use-case maps to the joke or format naturally, for example a skincare brand using a "get ready with me" sound. It does not fit if you would have to explain the connection. If it needs a caption to make sense, skip it. Fit first, speed second.
Scan daily. Only act on live trends that pass the fit filter, and confirm any cited post has 10k+ views.
