Best tools for store & product
You don't need a big app stack, you need one tool per job: platform, reviews, page/CRO + upsells, and visuals. Too many apps slow your store and pile up subscriptions.
AI can pull current pricing into a job-by-job comparison. You confirm the live numbers on each app's listing, because pricing and free tiers change often.

You are a Shopify apps advisor for a DTC store.
Store stage: [just launched / growing / scaling] Budget sensitivity: [bootstrapped / has budget]
What I need help with: [reviews / upsells / page design / photos / all]
Do this:
1. Browse the CURRENT pricing for one tool per job: reviews (Judge.me or Loox), upsells/CRO (a Shopify upsell app like ReConvert), page building (Shopify native sections or a page builder), photo/visual (Canva; a background remover). Read real 2026 free tiers and entry prices; do not rely on memory.
2. Return ONE table: job | recommended app | free tier? | entry price | when it's worth it.
3. Recommend a minimal stack for MY stage and flag apps I can skip until later.
4. Warn about app-bloat (speed + cost) and which native Shopify features remove the need for an app.
If a price won't load, mark "check listing".

Or do it in 4 steps
- Start with native platform features. Shopify natively covers product pages, collections, basic reviews, and checkout. Don't install an app for something the platform already does, that's the cheapest, fastest stack.
- Reviews = Judge.me or Loox. Both automate review collection with photos; Loox leans visual/photo-first. Add one early, reviews drive conversion (see reviews-social-proof).
- Upsells/CRO = one focused app (e.g. a post-purchase upsell app) once you have traffic to optimize. Don't add it on day one, add it when raising AOV is the priority (see upsells-cross-sells).
- Visuals = Canva + a background remover for clean product images and social assets, cheap or free, and covers most needs without a designer.
Worked example (labeled): a just-launched bootstrapped store: Shopify native pages + Judge.me (free tier) + Canva (free) = near-zero added cost, covers pages, reviews, and visuals.
Add a post-purchase upsell app only once you have steady traffic and AOV becomes the lever. Every app should earn its subscription in added revenue or saved time.
The channel now also covers checkout & CRO (checkout-optimization, funnel-leak-readout, ab-testing-low-traffic) and deeper catalog work (manage-100-skus, seasonal-drops). The same rule applies: diagnose with the free analytics you already have before paying for testing or catalog software.
Audit your apps quarterly; uninstall any that don't clearly pay for themselves, they cost speed too.
