Your feed is the ad, not just the input
For Shopping, Performance Max, Advantage+, and dynamic retargeting, the feed is the ad: title, image, price, and attributes are pulled straight from your data and matched to a shopper. AI can rewrite weak titles and flag disapproval risks from your pasted feed; Google Merchant Center and the platform apps are where the fixed feed actually goes live.
Fastest path: one prompt, end to end
🤖 AI prompt — paste into ChatGPT / Claude
You are a product-feed optimizer for Google Shopping and Meta catalogs. Here are 5 of my current product titles and descriptions [paste 5 titles + descriptions, with brand, product type, and key attributes for each].
For each, return ONE markdown table with columns: Current title | Rewritten title (<=150 chars) | Structure used | Disapproval risk I should check. Use the structure Brand + Product Type + Key Attribute + Variant and front-load the words a shopper actually searches.
Rules:
1. Keep every rewrite factual to what I gave you. Do not invent a material, size, or claim I did not state; if an attribute is missing, mark it [add attribute].
2. Do not fabricate a GTIN. If a title implies a branded product, remind me to confirm a valid GTIN in Merchant Center, do not generate one.
3. Flag likely disapproval causes from the text alone (missing GTIN, price mismatch risk, promotional text in title), and say which Merchant Center Diagnostics check to open.
Or do it in 5 steps
- Sync Shopify to Google Merchant Center and the Meta catalog. The Google & YouTube channel feeds Merchant Center; the Facebook & Instagram by Meta channel feeds Commerce Manager (help.shopify.com, verified). One clean source, two destinations.
- Fix the top disapprovals first. The usual three: a missing or invalid GTIN, a low-quality image, and a price that differs between the feed and the live page. Google's product data spec wants images at least 500x500px on a clean background with no promotional text or watermarks (the 500x500 minimum is enforced from Jan 31, 2027, support.google.com). Google uses GTINs to de-duplicate and rank you against every other seller of the same item, so push GTIN coverage toward 90%+ starting with top-revenue SKUs.
- Optimize feed titles: front-load Brand + Product + Attribute in the first 70 characters. The title attribute allows up to 150 characters (support.google.com), but Shopping truncates the display and shoppers scan the opening words, so put the searched terms first (e.g. "Acme Ceramic Travel Mug, Matte Black, 16oz"), not an internal SKU name.
- Refresh price, availability, and inventory at least daily. A sold-out item still running dynamic ads burns budget and trust; go hourly for flash sales or fast-moving SKUs.
- Use supplemental feeds and custom labels. A supplemental feed overrides or adds fields (better titles, promo flags) without touching the primary feed. Custom labels (margin tier, bestseller, season) let you structure PMax asset groups and Meta product sets around what drives ROAS.
Done looks like: Merchant Center Diagnostics near-clean, GTINs on your top SKUs, titles front-loaded, and the feed syncing daily.
Worked example: title rewrites
| Current title | Rewritten (front-loaded) |
|---|
| "TM-16-MB (in stock)" | "Acme Ceramic Travel Mug, Matte Black, 16oz" |
| "Best Seller!! Water Bottle" | "Acme Insulated Water Bottle, Steel, 24oz" |
| "Organic Tee - see options" | "Acme Organic Cotton T-Shirt, Crew Neck, Unisex" |
Each puts brand + product type + attribute first and drops SKU codes and promo shouting (which can trigger disapproval).
Review Merchant Center Diagnostics weekly, not just when disapprovals spike.
