On-page SEO, the AI-native way
Title tags, meta descriptions, headings, internal links, image alt text, and URL slugs are the ranking signals you fully control — no backlinks or algorithm luck required.
AI writes tight titles and metas faster than any human; you supply the real page copy and the character rules, then verify in Search Console. Work one real page at a time, starting with your best seller.
Fastest path: one prompt, end to end
🤖 AI prompt — paste into ChatGPT / Claude
You are an on-page SEO editor for an e-commerce product page.
Page URL: [URL]
Target keyword: [primary keyword]
Related pages I can link to (real URLs only): [list 3-5 product/collection URLs]
Images on the page: [describe each image briefly]
If you can browse, open my page and read the ACTUAL current title tag, meta description, and H1 from the source — do not invent them. If you can't browse, use what I paste here instead: [paste current title / meta / H1 / page copy].
Rewrite to these hard rules:
1. Title tag: 60 characters max, primary keyword in the first half, brand at the end only if it fits, core phrase matches the H1.
2. Meta description: 120-158 characters, one concrete reason to click (shipping, guarantee, spec) — not a keyword list.
3. H1: exactly one, a plain-language version of the title.
4. 3 internal links with descriptive anchor text (never "click here"), chosen ONLY from the related pages I listed — do not invent URLs.
5. Alt text for each image I described: one specific line each, no keyword stuffing.
Return ONE markdown table: Element | Current | Rewrite | Character count | Why this works.
Count every character count exactly — do not guess or estimate any number. Every figure must come from actual counting or a tool you opened — give the source next to it. If you cannot get a real value, leave it blank and ask me to fill it in. If you can't browse, leave the "Current" column blank where I didn't paste it and tell me to copy it from view-source or Search Console.
Or do it in 6 steps — on one real product page
- Pick one money page (your best seller) and grab its current title and meta: right-click → View Page Source and search for
<title> and name="description", or crawl the site with Screaming Frog free (500 URLs).
- Rewrite the title tag: 60 characters or less (about 580 px — longer gets cut off in results), primary keyword in the first half, matching the H1. Ahrefs' study of 953,276 pages found Google rewrites roughly a third of title tags — titles that agree with the H1 and the query get rewritten less.
- Rewrite the meta description: 120-158 characters with one concrete reason to click. Google rewrites 60-70% of meta descriptions to match the query (2026 SERP studies), so optimize for relevance, not tricks.
- Structure and links: exactly one H1; H2/H3 for sections, not keyword stuffing; add 2-3 internal links to related products/collections with descriptive anchors ("100-prong bamboo chasen", never "click here").
- Images and slugs: unique alt text per image, hyphenated file names (bamboo-matcha-whisk.webp), compressed to WebP. Slugs short and hyphenated; never change a ranking slug without a 301.
- Verify: Search Console → Performance, filter to the page, watch CTR over the next 2-4 weeks; use URL Inspection to confirm Google sees the new title. Done looks like: title ≤ 60 chars matching the H1, unique meta in range, one H1, 3 internal links, every image with alt text.
Worked example — before/after for a sample product page
Say your best seller is a 100-prong bamboo matcha whisk and the target keyword is matcha whisk (illustrative example copy, not real data):
| Element | Before (template) | After | Chars |
|---|
| Title | Home – Sora Tea – Premium Handcrafted Japanese Tea Tools and Accessories Shop | Bamboo Matcha Whisk – 100-Prong Chasen · Sora Tea | 49 |
| Meta | We sell matcha whisk, matcha whisks, chasen, bamboo whisk, tea tools, best matcha accessories online. | Hand-cut 100-prong bamboo whisk that froths matcha smooth in seconds. Free US shipping, a 90-day breakage guarantee, and a whisk-care guide in every box. | 153 |
| H1 | Welcome to our shop | Bamboo Matcha Whisk (100-Prong Chasen) | 38 |
The keyword moved to the front of a 49-character title, the meta now gives real reasons to click, and the H1 finally agrees with the title. Run the prompt on your own page to get your real before/after.
My rule: if you had to guess what a page is about from the URL, title, and H1 alone, so does Google. Fix one page a week, best sellers first; re-check Search Console monthly.
