Grow your email & SMS list past the one popup
One popup is a ceiling; a growing list has several capture points working together.
AI can audit your current setup and rank the highest-leverage tests. You supply the real submit-rate numbers, because AI can't see your analytics.
Fastest path: one prompt, end to end
🤖 AI prompt — paste into ChatGPT / Claude
You are an email-capture strategist for a DTC store.
Paste my current capture points and their submit rates (what I have):
popup: [copy + placement + submit %], embedded footer form: [%], checkout opt-in: [on/off],
post-purchase: [on/off], quiz: [on/off]
AOV: [$]
Using MY numbers only:
1. Rank my 5 possible capture points by likely impact given what's already running.
2. Propose exactly 3 ranked A/B tests, each with the exact change, where it lives (tool + placement), and the metric to watch (submit rate, list growth per week).
3. For any point I don't run yet, give the setup in one line (tool + where it lives).
Do not guess or estimate any number. Every figure must come from a number I gave you or a source you can cite, and you must name the source next to it. If a submit rate is missing, list it and ask me for it, do not assume one. If you can't browse, still rank from my numbers and tell me which figure to supply.
Output: a ranked capture-point table + the 3 ranked tests.
Or do it in 5 steps
- Tune the popup first (biggest lever): in Klaviyo Sign-up Forms or Shopify Forms, test the incentive type, then the timing (8s / 50% scroll / exit-intent), then the copy. Record its submit rate as your baseline, target is "beat last month", not a borrowed benchmark.
- Add an embedded footer or blog form (Klaviyo embed block / Shopify theme section) for visitors who dismiss popups. Metric: submit rate on pages where it appears. It captures intent from readers, not interrupters.
- Turn on checkout email opt-in in Shopify (Settings > Checkout > Marketing consent). Buyers are your warmest list and many opt in at purchase. Metric: opt-in rate at checkout.
- Add post-purchase capture on the order-status or thank-you page, with an SMS opt-in for shipping updates, a high-consent moment. Metric: post-purchase SMS/email opt-in rate.
- Run a quiz ("find your match") that captures the email to show results. For the right product, quizzes convert far above passive forms. Metric: quiz completion-to-capture rate.
Worked example (labeled submit-rate-by-incentive math, plug in your own): say your popup shows to 10,000 monthly visitors. At a 3% submit rate it captures 300; swap the incentive and lift it to 4% and it captures 400, a third more from the same traffic.
Then add a quiz: 1,000 takers at a 25% completion-to-capture rate adds 250, nearly doubling monthly growth. The 3% and 4% here are placeholders, use your own recorded rates before you scale any point.
Review submit rate per capture point monthly; test one change at a time.
