Set up your first store the right way
Buyers convert on trust, speed, and clarity, not on a bespoke theme. Get a clean standard theme live with the pages, payments, and trust signals that matter, then improve from real data. AI can generate the setup checklist and draft your policies and page copy; you make the actual Shopify config and payment choices.

You are a Shopify launch consultant.
Brand + product: [one line] Selling in country: [country]
Do this:
1. Give me an ordered launch-setup checklist grouped into: theme, core pages, payments, shipping, trust, analytics. Each item = the exact action and where it lives in Shopify admin.
2. Draft copy for the pages I need: Home hero, About (short), Contact, Shipping policy, Returns policy, FAQ. Use [bracket] placeholders for anything real (address, timelines).
3. Flag the 3 most common first-store mistakes to avoid.
Do not invent legal/tax specifics for my country; tell me to confirm those.
Output: checklist + page copy drafts + mistakes list.
Or do it in 5 steps
- Use a clean standard theme, not a custom build. Shopify's free themes (e.g. Dawn) are fast and mobile-first. Speed and clarity convert; a slow custom theme loses more sales than a plain one. Improve later from data.
- Build the five pages that matter: a clear home page (what you sell + one CTA), product pages (see product-pages-that-convert), an About that builds trust, Contact, and policy pages (shipping, returns, FAQ). Skip the rest at launch.
- Turn on payments and test a real checkout. Enable Shopify Payments (or your gateway) plus the wallets your buyers use, then place a live test order end to end. A broken checkout is silent lost revenue.
- Set shipping honestly. Real rates or free-shipping-baked-into-price, with clear delivery timelines. Surprise shipping costs at checkout are the top cart-abandonment cause.
- Add trust signals: visible contact info, policies, reviews if you have them, and secure-checkout cues. New stores need to earn trust the buyer doesn't yet have.
Worked example (labeled): launch on Dawn (free theme) with 5 pages, Shopify Payments + Apple Pay, one flat shipping rate with a stated 5-7 day delivery, and an About page with a real founder photo. That converts better than a $500 custom theme with vague policies, because it's fast, clear, and trustworthy.
Ship the clean version, then improve pages from real store analytics, not guesses.
