How-to
🧰 Recommended tools for events & offline marketing
The right events stack depends on whether you're selling tickets, capturing leads, or taking payments on-site. Match tool to job before you pay for features you won't use.
🎯 Why it matters
Event tools split by job: registration/ticketing, on-site payments, and lead capture. A free market stall and a paid conference need different stacks. Pick by what you actually need to do at the event, not the most-marketed brand. AI can browse current pricing into a comparison; you confirm the live numbers before you commit.
💬 My take
Recommended tools for events & offline marketing
There's no single "events tool." You're really choosing a registration tool, a payment tool, and a capture tool. AI can pull current pricing into one comparison; you confirm live numbers on each vendor's page, since event-tool fees change and are easy to misquote.

You are an events-ops advisor for a DTC brand.
Event type: [free pop-up / paid workshop / trade show booth / recurring market]
Need (check all): sell tickets / take card payments on-site / capture emails+SMS / manage RSVPs
Budget sensitivity: [bootstrapped / has budget]
Do this:
1. Browse the CURRENT pricing pages and read the real 2026 fees (do not rely on memory):
Luma (luma.com/pricing), Eventbrite (eventbrite.com/organizer/pricing),
Shopify POS (shopify.com/pos/pricing), and one email/SMS capture tool (Klaviyo).
2. Return ONE comparison table with columns: Tool | Job | Free tier | Fee/price | Best for.
3. Recommend a stack for MY event type and needs, and name what each piece does.
If a price won't load, mark it "check pricing page" rather than guessing. Do not invent a fee.
No-web fallback: if you can't browse, list the tools by job and leave the Fee column blank with "confirm on pricing page" - never quote a fee from memory, event pricing changes.
Or do it in 4 steps
- Registration / ticketing. Free events: Luma (free forever, clean RSVP pages) or Eventbrite (unlimited free events, no fees). Paid: Luma charges a 5% platform fee on its free plan (0% on Luma Plus, $59/mo billed annually); Eventbrite charges 3.7% + $1.79 per paid ticket plus 2.9% payment processing (all verified 2026). Pick by whether you sell tickets often enough to justify a subscription.
- On-site payments. If you already run Shopify, Shopify POS is the obvious choice: same catalog, inventory, and customer records as your online store, so offline orders land in the same system. POS Lite is included on every Shopify plan; POS Pro (advanced inventory, unlimited staff) is +$89/mo per location (verified 2026).
- Lead / data capture. A tablet with a Klaviyo or Shopify Forms sign-up, plus a QR to a mobile landing page. This is the piece most people skip and most regret (see the capturing-data-offline note).
- Match the stack to the event. Free market stall → Shopify POS Lite + a Klaviyo QR, no ticketing tool. Paid workshop → Luma or Eventbrite + Shopify POS. Don't pay for ticketing you won't use.
Worked example (labeled): a recurring free market stall needs no ticketing tool at all — just Shopify POS Lite (free on your plan) + a Klaviyo QR for capture. Adding Eventbrite here would be paying a per-ticket fee for a ticketing feature the event doesn't have.
Re-check tool pricing before each new event season.
⚖️ Do & Don't
Do
- Match the tool to the job — a ticketing tool, a POS and a lead-capture app solve different problems; don't force one to do all three
- Start on the free or cheapest tier (Eventbrite, Luma, Shopify POS Lite) until volume justifies an upgrade
- Pick tools that sync to a CRM or your store's customer data automatically — a spreadsheet of scanned cards goes stale fast
Avoid
- Don't sign an enterprise event platform (Splash, Bizzabo) before you've run a few events manually — you won't know what you actually need yet
- Don't rely on paper sign-up sheets or a stack of business cards when a $10-20/month scanner app exists
- Don't book space directly through a landlord for a first pop-up — a marketplace's managed contract is faster and safer
💡 Quick tips
- If you're only on Shopify, POS Lite plus a card reader is usually the cheapest complete pop-up setup
- For a single small event, Luma or Partiful is enough; upgrade to Eventbrite only when you need ticket revenue or wider discovery reach
