Write content that actually ranks
Ranking means answering the query more completely and credibly than the current top three, not writing more words.
AI can analyze the SERP and build a gap-filling outline. You add the real experience and proof, because that is what Google's E-E-A-T rewards and AI can't fake (see how-ranking-works).

You are an SEO content strategist with web access.
Target keyword: [keyword]
My brand's angle/expertise: [what you genuinely know or have tested]
Do this:
1. Open the current top 3 Google results for the keyword and read them. List what each covers and, crucially, what they all MISS or cover poorly.
2. Build an outline that covers everything they cover PLUS the gaps, structured with question-style H2s that mirror how people actually search.
3. Mark where MY real experience or data should go (write "insert your test result here") instead of inventing anything.
4. List the entities and related questions the page should mention so it reads as comprehensive to both readers and AI Overviews.
Output: gap analysis, then the outline, then the entity list.
Do not guess or invent any statistic, quote, or study result. Use [bracket] placeholders for anything real, and cite the source next to any figure you keep. If you can't browse, say so, outline from the keyword alone, and tell me to check the live SERP myself.
Or do it in 5 steps
- Outline from the top 3, find the gap. Read what is ranking and name what they all miss. That gap is your edge, not a paraphrase of theirs. Match their depth and format; don't chase an arbitrary word count.
- AI draft, then a human experience pass. Let AI draft to the outline, then layer in a genuine test, a photo, a first-hand result, and a named, credentialed author. This human pass over the AI draft is the E-E-A-T signal that AI-generated sameness can't replicate.
- Use question-style H2s. Structure the page around how people actually phrase the search. Those subheads feed AI Overviews and FAQ rich results, and they force the copy to answer real intent instead of wandering.
- Add FAQ and internal links. Answer the related questions on-page and link to your relevant clusters (ties back to content-strategy). Lead commercial-intent pages with a comparison table or a clear recommendation, not throat-clearing.
- Publish and request indexing in Google Search Console so it gets crawled quickly, then track its position over 4 to 8 weeks.
Worked example (labeled): for the keyword "how to wash merino wool", the top three all say "hand wash cold" but none show what happens if you don't.
Your gap-filling angle is a photo series of a shrunk sweater next to a cared-for one, from your own test. That first-hand proof is the rankable difference, and exactly what a competitor copying AI output can't produce.
Re-check ranking position monthly; refresh the page when it slips or the SERP shifts.
